Summary: When it comes time to plan your cosmetic surgery procedure, the actual timing of the thing may be important. Do you want to have your procedure performed in the summer or the winter? Much of this will depend on your desired results, but one thing we’ve noticed is that there are certainly some procedures that get discussed more often in the summer or winter months.
Finding the Best Cosmetic Procedures for Summer
The hot summer months are upon us. It’s June, after all. And if you’re in the northern hemisphere, June means hot temperatures. It also means outdoor activities such as camping and swimming and fishing and hiking—everything you can cram in before the snow falls again. But summer also brings with it some added focus on the body and the skin. Some of this is due to fact that bathing suits are everywhere (and we’re all expected to be beach ready or something). And some of this is due to the impact the sun has on our skin.
Whatever the reason, this makes June a particularly good time to discuss the best cosmetic procedures for summer! To some degree, good plastic surgery is good plastic surgery, no matter when you get it. (When you get plastic surgery has a lot more to do with when you can get adequate time off than anything else.) However, there are some procedures that have peak popularity during the summer months—for a wide variety of reasons. Let’s take a look at some of these popular summer procedures!
Get Rid of Fat This Summer
There are a couple of procedures that are popular for eliminating fat during the summer months. The reasons are somewhat unsurprising: people are thinking about the way they look and some of those people want to lose a few pounds in a hurry. There are basically two ways to do that without needing surgery: CoolSculpting and Liposonix. CoolSculpting uses cold to destroy fat cells without harming skin and Liposonix uses high-frequency sound waves to accomplish the same thing. In both cases, the patient loses a bit of weight without the need for surgery—and that can be perfect for summer.
Rejuvenate Your Skin—One Way or Another
When you get a laser procedure of any kind, you are usually instructed to protect your skin afterwards. This is because laser procedures basically get rid of the top layer of your skin, exposing a more youthful looking layer below. Protecting that “youthful layer” from UV radiation (that is, the sun) will help that skin look younger longer. So many patients will elect to undergo laser procedures in the winter (when it’s easier to protect the skin from the sun).
Instead, many patients will elect to treat and diminish wrinkles by using injectables. These can include injectables such as dermal fillers (Juvederm, Radiesse, Voluma, etc) or it can include something like Botox (a neuromodulator). Each treat different types of wrinkles in different ways, but they’re popular in the summer because they can each make the face appear rejuvenated and radiant.
Change Your Nose a Bit
One of the most popular procedures to get in the summer is called the non surgical nose job. Developed in California, the non surgical rhinoplasty was designed as a non-invasive alternative to rhinoplasty. That works out during the summer because rhinoplasty requires a long recovery time. In other words, you miss out on many of the activities we started the article by discussing (camping, fishing, hiking, running, etc). Instead, you’ll be inside waiting for your nose to recover.
With a non surgical rhinoplasty, there is virtually no recovery period. You can resume your normal activities almost at once. This is exceptionally convenient for patients who, let’s face it, have better things to do with those scant summer months (heck, even if you’re in someplace warm such as Los Angeles, you still want to put your summer to good use). The popularity of non surgical rhinoplasty as a summer procedure should not be discounted!
Look Great and Feel Great Year Round
Of course, the ultimate goal is to look great and feel great year round. You want to look and feel great in winter just the same as you do during the summer. The popularity of these summer procedures simply indicate trends, and they shouldn’t be taken as a directive. After all, if you want CoolSculpting in the winter or a tummy tuck in the summer, that’s between you and your surgeon.
The best way to get the results you want is to talk to a cosmetic or plastic surgeon, who can then advise you on the best way to proceed. Whether that happens in the summer or winter may end up being arbitrary. What is for certain, however, is that the more you know, the better you can plan. And that’s certainly true with seasonally popular procedures such as these.
