Summary: Thinking about getting a nose job in 2019? You have a lot of company. Rhinoplasty procedures are continually one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the United States. But what kind of changes might be in store for rhinoplasty procedures in 2019? Well, probably not any huge changes, though we can’t discount the development of significant innovations.
Are You Looking Forward to a Nose Job in 2019?
Are you looking forward to a nose job in 2019? You’re not the only one. Rhinoplasty (more commonly known as nose jobs) have been incredibly popular surgical procedures since their introduction decades ago. The last few years in particular have seen this facial enhancement surgery become enormously popular–usually one of the top five surgical procedures performed in the U.S.
The nose job in 2019 is looking like it won’t be so different, and it’s likely that this procedure will continue to be incredibly popular. There are some interesting reasons for that continued popularity.
But that’s not the only wrinkle getting introduced in 2019. Rhinoplasty is seeing increasing competition from alternative procedures, including the non surgical nose job. This non surgical approach to changing the nose relies on dermal filler injections put in just the right places. The results tend to be on the subtle side–in fact, they’re so subtle that this procedure doesn’t really compete with surgical rhinoplasty–but the benefit is an almost complete lack of downtime. If you have questions about what rhinoplasty can do for you in 2019–surgical or otherwise–contact your cosmetic or plastic surgeon to get personalized information.
Why is Rhinoplasty So Popular?
So maybe it’s worth talking about why rhinoplasty is popular in the first place. Generally speaking, rhinoplasty popularity is driven by two major things: injury and proportions. I know those two ideas don’t seem to have much to do with each other–and even less to do with noses–but it’s definitely something we can explain.
- Injury to the nose is a strong, motivating factor for many rhinoplasty patients. These are patients who are undergoing rhinoplasty because they have suffered an injury of one kind or another. A broken nose, for example, can drastically alter the shape of the nose for years to come. Indeed, surgery such as rhinoplasty may be the only way for your nose to appear pre-injured. If you have suffered a nose injury, you can talk to your surgeon about how to best proceed.
- Proportions are a motivating factor because the aesthetics of the face are driven by those proportions. How your nose looks is important–but how your nose looks in proportion to your eyes, nose, and mouth is even more important. Your nose is, essentially, the centerpiece to your face. It doesn’t always get the attention (in fact, you usually don’t want it to get that attention), but it plays a vitally important role in trying everything together.
Of course, those aren’t the only reasons that rhinoplasty is popular. But they are among the chief motivating factors for patients.
What Changes do we Expect for Rhinoplasty in 2019?
Plastic surgeons are always striving to improve their care and their results. That’s why, when it comes to rhinoplasty in 2019, we’re expecting some changes to the procedure. Now, to be clear, we are not expecting big changes. And we’re using general trend lines in plastic surgery to make these predictions–not necessarily any published research pertaining to rhinoplasty itself.
An Emphasis on Faster Recovery Time
One thing we’re expecting from rhinoplasty in 2019 is continued research into faster recovery times. Rhinoplasty is notorious for its long recovery window–some patients wait up to twelve months for recovery to be completely finished. So we would not be surprised to see continued research into a way to shorten that process.
Now, that doesn’t mean that it’s actually going to happen this year. But we do expect the research to continue.
More Potent Non Surgical Options
We also expect non surgical rhinoplasty options to get better. In what way they’ll get better is difficult to judge precisely, as predicting the future is inherently difficult. But we have no doubt that cosmetic surgeons will continue improving the non surgical nose job, giving patients more options and a little more power.
We Can Always be Surprised
Predicting the future is inherently unreliable, mainly because we never really know what’s going to happen. It’s unlikely that a major new rhinoplasty innovation will change everything we know about nose jobs–but it’s possible, and we shouldn’t be too quick to dismiss that possibility, especially in the fields of cosmetic and plastic surgery.
The nose job in 2019 will probably look very similar to the nose job of 2018. But that doesn’t mean surgeons aren’t working on something new that will make the rhinoplasty an even more popular plastic surgery procedure.
