Summary: There are certainly some strange places you can get liposuction. That is, liposuction has been successfully employed to remove fat from a wide variety of areas across the body. True, not every part of the body is an ideal target for liposuction procedures. But there are definitely plenty of options out there for patients who want to look into liposuction in an area of the body that might be a little less traditional.
What Are Some Strange Places You Can Get Liposuction?
When you think of liposuction, you probably think of belly fat. You’re not the only one. Indeed, the elimination of belly fat is one of the most common uses of liposuction procedures. But it’s not the only use. Indeed, there some strange places you can get liposuction. Okay, “strange” isn’t the best word for it. I’m overhyping it just a bit.
Let’s just say that you might not have thought about undergoing liposuction in any of these areas. It’s not that the targets are unusual in any specific way. It’s just that, unless you’re steeped in plastic surgery information already, you might not think of these particular places as possible places to target lipo.
In other words, these “strange places to get liposuction” will likely help various patients achieve results. It’s just that in the broader culture, we’re not used to discussing them as targets for liposuction. I hope I’ve made that clear because it’s quite important. There’s no shame in seeking out a liposuction procedure on any of these “strange” places. In fact, once you start to think about it, you might begin thinking of these “strange places” as excellent ideas. So let’s start talking about some of the strange place you can get liposuction (that you may want yourself when this article is over).
Liposuction of the Back
Liposuction of the tummy area is incredibly common. But what about the flip side? That is, what about the side that you might see if you flip over: the back. That’s right, you can actually get liposuction of the back. Which works out, because the back is one of those places that tends to see a significant amount of stubborn fat stick around over the years.
Fat around the back can be particularly difficult to eliminate through diet and exercise. It’s just something about the way that fat is formed (and especially since it tends to be formed later in life). And because it’s so stubborn, it tends to irritate and discourage many people.
Liposuction is a possible solution for some patients. The fat can be removed from select areas of the back using small incisions (as is common with liposuction). This can help contour the back and create a more slender silhouette for the torso. Liposuction of the back is probably more common than you think–in part because fat around the back is also more common than you might think at first.
Liposuction of the Neck or Face
The back isn’t the only place where stubborn fat tends to collect. There are some patients who elect to undergo liposuction of the neck or face. In some cases, this liposuction occurs in conjunction with a facelift or other rejuvenating procedure. In other cases, liposuction is used to contour the face or neck, to help it blend in with the rest of the body.
Liposuction of the neck or face can be a delicate operation. Your surgeon has to be careful in order to generate the best possible results. The face or the neck is definitely one place where you don’t want to overdo the liposuction!
When patients undergo liposuction of the neck or face, it’s often in conjunction with other facial plastic surgery procedures, such as:
- Rhinoplasty (or nose surgery)
- Facelift or mini facelift procedures
- Brow lift or neck lift procedures
The idea is to alter the entire face so that it appears much more youthful to the patient. Eliminating fat and contouring the neck can definitely be part of that process.
Lipo of the Leg
Some patients are eager to help their legs look a bit more slender. As is usual, diet and exercise don’t always do the trick. That’s why, in some cases, liposuction of the leg might help patients contour their thighs or calves to get the overall look they’re after.
Liposuction of the thighs is significantly more common than liposuction of the calves, mostly because fat is much more common around the thighs than the calves. That said, liposuction of the calves is sometimes viable, especially if there happen to be significant deposits of fat around that area.
Whatever are of the body you’re having trouble with, in terms of areas of fat, there just might a liposuction procedure that can help you get the results you’re after. Now, not every part of the body is a viable liposuction target. But there are options out there for many different types of liposuction for a wide variety of needs.
