Summary: The human face is incredibly important and incredibly complex. There are a wide variety of facial plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures precisely because of this complexity. But not all of those procedures are equally common or equally popular. Today, we talk about some of the less common procedures.

Uncommon But Effective

There are so many facial plastic surgery procedures out there; many of them are well known. From rhinoplasty to facelift to Botox—these are incredibly familiar procedure and it has been widely reported what they do. But that’s not the end of it. Indeed, there are some facial plastic surgery procedures that are much less known—much less written about—that are quite effective for patients.

That’s why today we’re highlighting three uncommon but effective facial procedures. These procedures might seem a bit odd at first glance, but that’s mostly simply because we aren’t used to them yet. It’s also not uncommon for plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures to specialize—meaning that the procedure in question is only effective for a certain part of the population; but that doesn’t mean it’s not effective.

For these procedures, getting out the word is important. It’s a way to ensure that people who might benefit from these procedures actually know about them. And that’s no small task. So let’s take a look at three of these uncommon but effective facial procedures.

Blepharoplasty—Surgery for Eyelids

The first procedure that meets our “uncommon but effective” criteria is a procedure called blepharoplasty. Okay, it’s more commonly known as an eyelid lift. And, to be fair, eyelid lift procedures are pretty common. However, eyelid surgery isn’t necessarily in the same echelon of procedures as nose jobs and facelifts, so I think it’s fair game.

Essentially, an eyelid lift is a way to get rid of excess skin from around the eyes. This can make the eyes look more youthful, more rested, and more vibrant. Excess skin around the eyes can actually make you look kind of old, kind of tired, and kind of sad. An eyelid lift is a great way to get control of your emoting back. And that is by no means a small thing.

Kybella for Double Chins

Okay, this one is a little less known because it’s so darn new. Kybella is an injection that actually eliminates fat. We’re used to thinking of injectables as things that add volume. According to the website of the Twin Cities Medspa Carillon Minneapolis, Kybella does the same thing, but sort of in reverse.

The chemical that makes up Kybella is known for breaking down fat (it already exists in your body—this is just kind of a concentrated form). For now, it only works in your chin area, but that means that if you suffer from a double chin (or just some excess chin fat), you might have an easy way to get rid of that fat.

It may take several weeks for results from Kybella to manifest themselves, but that’s a small price to pay for an athletic looking jawline!

Broadband Light PhotoRejuvenation for Skin Tone

Sometimes, as you age, your skin can kind of take a pounding. You can develop age spots, wrinkles, even discoloration. The good news is that when these issues are caused by environmental factors, they are often confined to the very surface. This means that procedures such as BBL (broadband light) photorejuvenation can help!

These procedures use light and energy to treat the very top layer of the skin—to even out skin tones, mitigate slight wrinkles, and help you look more youthful. These procedures usually require a little bit of recovery, but it’s mostly like getting a sunburn. (In this case, you’ll want to avoid the sun for a few days to few months after the procedure).

Broadband light is a great way to get a more youthful looking appearance without needing to go in for surgery.

Something for Everyone

Hopefully one thing that this showcases is that, at the end of the day, there’s something for everyone. If there’s something about your skin or about your body or about your face that bothers you—that you simply cannot fix—there may be a plastic surgery procedure that can help. If you’re curious about what that plastic surgery procedure might be—if you can’t find anything on the web about how to solve your problem—then a discussion with a highly qualified plastic or cosmetic surgeon would likely be the best place to start.

After all, it’s a big world. So there’s probably something for you out there!
