Summary: We love top five lists! They help to focus our attention on a few things that are really making waves in the cosmetic surgery world. That’s why this list of the top five minimally invasive cosmetic procedures is nice—because we can talk about what seems to be really working for people and what might not be.

A Quick Look at the Top Five Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Procedures

The top five minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are going to change depending on how you define “top.” If we’re talking about the most popular procedures, the list might look one way. If we’re talking about the most powerful procedures, the list might be a little bit different.

For our own custom top five list, we’re going to kind of combine the two criteria. We’re going to look at the most popular and the most effective. Because the fact of the matter is that you’ve probably heard of a few of these before, and we’d like to weave in some procedures that might surprise you.

So let’s take a look at the top five minimally invasive cosmetic procedures of 2017—they might be a little bit different than you were expecting!

Procedure #5: Non Surgical Nose Job

The Non Surgical Nose Job has been famous since it made a splash in the early 2000s. And it’s been popular for a reason: it gets the job done! A Non Surgical Nose Job, essentially, alters the overall size and volume of the nose. Patients use this procedure to:

  • Change the shape of the bridge of the nose
  • Treat drooping tips
  • Smooth out a bumpy nose
  • Change the overall shape of the nose

A Non Surgical Nose Job can generally be accomplished in as little as fifteen minutes. Which means that patients get an effective nose treatment in a very short amount of time. Unless you use a special filler, the results will be temporary—but it’s easy to see why this procedure remains popular.

Procedure #4: Kybella

A relative newcomer to the non invasive cosmetic surgery field, Kybella is making a huge splash. This brand new injectable is used, essentially, to melt fat away. A few injections (or more than a few, depending on your anatomy) are all it takes to start the process.

Once the injections are made, Kybella spends a couple of months breaking down the fat in the injected area. Currently, Kybella is only FDA approved for use in treating submental fat—that is, it’s only approved to treat a double chin. Still, it’s hard to resist the ability to get a more athletic and slim looking jawline with just a few injections!

Procedure #3: Filler Injections

All right, we’re cheating a little bit on this one. Technically, filler injections are actually a wide variety of procedure—not just one. There are all kinds of available fillers, from Juvederm to Radiesse to Restylane. They all have different specialties, but right now we’re focusing on using dermal filler injections to eliminate lines and wrinkles.

Dermal fillers do this by replacing lost volume in the face. It’s kind of like blowing up a deflated balloon. As the volume is replaced, the skin looks smoother and more youthful. The results typically last for a year or so, depending on the filler of choice. But there’s no denying that these injectables are a great way to help patients look more youthful—and the best part is that there’s no downtime.

Procedure #2: Lip Injections

To be fair, most lip injections are performed using dermal fillers. As such, I could have shoe-horned this procedure into the number three spot with filler injections. But lip injections have such a specific goal in mind that it’s really worth thinking of this as its own procedure.

In part, that’s because lip injections have been steadily increasing in popularity. Many patients simply want to have bigger, more plump lips in a way that flatters the rest of the face. Specially formulated dermal fillers do an excellent job of this because they:

  • Use smaller molecules to get a smoother look
  • Are temporary, with effects lasting somewhere between nine and twelve months
  • Allow a significant amount of control in generating the outcome

In other words, if you want fuller lips, filler injections are a great way to get them.

Procedure #1: Botox

When it comes to non invasive cosmetic procedures, Botox is almost always going to be at the top of the list. The reasons are pretty clear: Botox does a lot of things really, really well. For example, Botox injections are used to:

  • Mitigate lines and wrinkles in the face
  • Diminish the frequency and symptoms associated with migraine headaches
  • Address the severity of the symptoms of Clinical Depression
  • Treat certain jaw ailments
  • Do much more!

In fact, researchers are still looking into everything Botox can do. New and innovative techniques are being discovered and described with some regularity. In some ways, Botox is kind of like this low-key wonder drug.

However, its primary use is still as a way to eliminate or diminish certain kind of lines and wrinkles. And there’s not a whole lot other than Botox or Dysport (another brand of the basic Botulinum toxin formula) that can treat those same wrinkles.

Next Year’s Top Five Might be Different

It shouldn’t be surprising that, with all this innovation, 2017’s top five minimally invasive cosmetic procedures look a little different than 2016’s. It’s incredibly likely that, due to this pace of innovation, 2018s top five will also look different. And that’s a good thing. The more procedure that patients have access to, the more likely they’ll be able to find the perfect procedure for them.

In any case, these top five non invasive cosmetic procedures are just that: the top five. Not necessarily the best five for you. If your favorite procedure isn’t on the list, that’s not a knock against it. After all, when it comes to cosmetic procedures, the sky’s the limit!
